Meditation

As taught by The Chopra Center for Wellbeing! Practiced for thousands of years, meditation is a tool for rediscovering the body’s own inner intelligence. PSM, Primordial Sound Meditation, uses individually selected sounds of nature called mantras to disconnect us from the activity of life. These primordial sounds are based on the vibration the universe was creating at the moment of your birth. Primordial Sound Meditation is recommended for anyone who wishes to know deeper peace, enjoy greater freedom and mastery of life.  
 
We at Joyful Yoga feel very honored to offer this amazing mantra meditation technique to enable you to get the most from your Yoga practice. Here in the West we think of yoga as a method to increase flexibility and balance, but remember that the “poses”, or asana, is only one of the eight limbs of yoga. Meditation, dhyana, is also one, or the development of witnessing awareness, which is what happens in meditation. Simply put, you increase your awareness in all ways.
 
Think about that for a minute. Now take your attention to the one who is thinking. There is very hard evidence through extensive studies — especially in the past two years — validating the profound changes in the body and mind through a consistent, regular meditation practice. (We have compiled about 10 of them in a binder at the studio and will also post list of online articles on our website which is currently being re-vamped.)

The Next Primordial Sound Meditation Personal Instruction will be August 17th, 18th and 25th. You must commit to all three sessions, space is limited.

Overview:
In Session One, you will be introduced to the basic principles of meditation, its history and the importance of your mantra.
In Session Two (which immediately follows Session One) you will receive instruction in your personal Primordial Sound Mantra and learn to use it. You will then meditate for the first time using your mantra.
In Session Three you will learn the practical aspects of meditation, share your experience, receive answers to any questions and meditate with your instructor.
In Session Four you will attend a lecture about the higher states of consciousness that can be achieved with regular Primordial Sound Meditation Practice.

Intro to Meditation
We offer a free monthly drop-in meditation (on the first Friday of each month from 4-5 PM) where we offer instruction in a simple mantra meditation followed by silent meditation. All are welcome. Come join your Yoga community in “the gap”and reap the rewards of meditating among like  minds! Check our schedule for more information about when this is offered.
